We are pleased to announce the availability of the new Center for Disease Control resource Core Elements of Human Antibiotic Stewardship Programs in Resource-Limited Settings: National and Hospital Levels: from the ICAN Guidelines repository (Please click here)
This guide builds off the Core Elements resources originally created for U.S. domestic audiences, and presents a framework for implementing antibiotic stewardship programs in resource-limited settings. It contains practical, high-yield strategies at the national and facility-levels, and provides a range of activities that a government or individual facility can implement based on the resources available.
We invite you to use this new guide and to share it widely with others working in the field. This is an important step toward improving antibiotic use globally, but more work is needed. The CDC hope to improve this resource following additional implementation experience from CDC and their partners, and we hope that you will participate in the global conversation.
